I am trying to think...after watching the Bret Hart DVD who is probably the most popular ever.

    Hulk Hogan
    Bret Hart
    Shawn Michaels
    The Rock
    Stone Cold
    Ric Flair

We all know that Hulk & The Rock are the most succesful outside of the ring, but I am talking about strictly wrestling wise.
Go Orlando Magic! Go Tampa Bay Bucs! Go FSU! Go CM Punk!

According to the WWE a couple of years ago...

    Stone Cold's #1, The Rock's #2, Hogan's #3, Flair's #4...and as far as #5, I would say...Bret Hart...

Hart was not more popular than say the Ultimate Warrior was in his prime.. Hart was a great wrestler, but he is in the same boat as Michaels when you talk about guys who were at the top of the WWE when it just wasn't drawing.

Hulk Hogan was popular at a time when it was safe for the whole family to sit down and watch wrestling. He wasn't threatening, and he encouraged little kids to say their prayers and eat their vitamins.

Then wrestling got "attitude", and guys like Austin, Rock, Michaels, Undertaker etc grew in popularity because they fitted in with the attitude image.

Most popular of all-time? Depends who your target audience is.

Yea but wrestling was bigger when Austin was the top guy so in a sense Austin is probably bigger.

I would like to say the rock because I think he was the only one who was never actually only booed in his heel days. when you heard " DO YOU SMELL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKING?" you always heard cheers and booes even when he was with the corporation he was cheered sometimes, if you compare prime rock and prime hogan rock takes it

Hogan made the WWE but he didn't make wrestling. It was wildly popular in the 80s in places where people didn't give a crap abotu the WWE. Back then, the southeast was pretty much crockett country. The WWF wasn't running shows in Charlotte and Atlanta in 85. In Dallas, wrestling was so popular match results made the Dallas Morning News, but multiple suicides and drug overdoses by the Von Erich's and others did that territory in.

Austin and Rock were at the top when wrestling was at it's most popular. So I will put them number one and two.

Ultimate Warrior, Ric Flair, Stone Cold, Mick Foley, The Rock, HBK, Bret Hart, Hulk Hogan, and The Undertaker should be the options for this question, in my opinion. They were the most popular after wrestling moved out of territories.

Actually I would agree in terms of personal preference. Jericho is the shit...or at least he use to be when I still had cable.

But honestly, personal feelings aside, can you put him on the same plain as the others I listed in my last post?
